Hilton Branch Public Library

Staff sits around doing nothing while children run around screaming and thrashing stuff on the floor while people are trying to focus on their work.

This place is just sad. It feels more like an annex or extension of an adult or adolescent library- there’s nothing warm, engaging or fun about it for kids. No toys, no activities, no reading nooks. Just tables/chairs, books and computer screens.

What a fantastic public service. The librarians are helpful, and a library card includes so many free amenities beyond books-- a network of dozens of neighboring libraries to borrow from, digital services offering audiobooks, television, movies, and ebooks, and information on local history. Beautiful rain garden and accessible entrances.

One particular worker is so rude and problematic. She picks on a child and caused so many problems. She called me a liar when she was the one being unprofessional and toxic. I would not recommend this location. It’s a shame that Maplewood has so many racial issues. I am so disappointed with the culture of that library.
