We had the great pleasure of eating at Highland Spice Cafe - it a was sumptuous experience with the best injera I've ever had. We are normally quite picky since we require teff only (gluten free) injera and this hit the spot; my children were clamoring for more and enjoying every bite. We had tibs and misir wot, which my eldest devoured. The owner are a husband and wife duo that provided the utmost warmth, hospitality, and service. Hands down amazing experience and have already repeated two other times! If you're looking for Habesha food, this is the spot.

I recently visited Highland Spice Cafe in Portland and tried the Ful Bowl with tea. The Ful Bowl was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, and the tea paired with it beautifully. The service was friendly, the cafe was clean and cozy, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it.

I’ve been a regular customer since they first opened, and it’s become one of my favorite spots. My friends and I usually stop by on Saturdays after our soccer pickup games for breakfast or lunch. The customer service is always great, and the tibs and breakfast options are absolutely delicious. Their coffee is incredibly smooth and pairs perfectly with the food. I highly recommend both the coffee and the meals.
