Haven 55

We saw this place in a local magazine and decided to give it a try on their prime rib special night. The outside and inside were not very inviting. The restaurant did have a picturesque overlook of Elk River. Being a flat ceiling interior made for a lot of noise, even as people spoke at a regular inside volume. We had an appetizer of fried green beans. They were tasty. The prime rib was very good, but the sides were very average! The salad looked as it was taken right out of a bag of greens with a few tomato wedges and croutons on it. The Brussels sprouts were nicely flavored but very soft and mushy like boiled frozen brussel sprouts. The wine was below average. The service was excellent! Our server was very attentive and friendly!

Didn’t know what to expect, but my meal at Haven 55 was exceptional. I have never seen a twice baked potato standing on end, and my cedar wrapped salmon was the star of my plate. Haillee was our server and HUGE kudos to the chef. Top notch faire. Also saw two bald eagles flying over the waterfall outside. Just a lovely dinner, I highly suggest a stop here.

I was expecting 5 star review. I can't do that. A mixed review. Good and not. For an anniversary quiet night I give it a 3-4. But a night just out for a country drive a 5. It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere with a great waterfall view. And the food isn't bad. There's some decent food there. Some great. Just some of mine wasn't what I was expecting. This wasn't the dress up 5 star place we expected but it's a good place to relax by the water, eat inside, go get a drink and do karaoke next door. I liked the cozy bar myself. The dining room is in another building next door. It's a simple place with about 60 chairs in a small area. Voices carry in that room. We couldn't hear the soft music over loud voices. I don't recommend this for an anniversary or such again . We will

Overall a really great experience. I did find that the prime rib sandwich was a bit expensive[$17], but it was so good - the fries were tasty too. My husband had the burger, which he added the grilled mushrooms- he was glad he did as it added to a pretty normal burger. The view was incredible and there was plenty of room for our stroller.

The view is amazing. We had two sandwiches, one chicken and one prime rib, and they were really good. I am looking forward to trying ostrich and gator here.
