Havelock-Craven County Public Library

Visited on outreach visit. Front desk personnel always helpful and courteous.

Walked in with my children and for some reason there was several people behind the counter and not one person offered to help until we walked around the library ourselves exploring everything including the main desk where everyone was, finally a women's voice said can u help u but no one was looking up or at us. This woman looked up with a frown of disgust and said what do u need? I told her we need end to sign up for the summer reading program she dismissed us and said it was just a lady that reads. I in return told her OK how do we sign up she said just come but its nothing or sign up..I said OK where do I sign she repeated it was nothing to come I saw she didn't want us so we left with my son asking me why they wouldn't help us ..no library card or reading at the library all summer tha

I can't remember the last time my family has ever been treated so awful at library. Oh wait, never. We recently moved to havelock so our licenses have not been changed yet, but we attempted to sign our child up for a reading program and the woman at the counter treated us like we were trash blown in from the gutter outside. She stone walled every opportunity we had to show her evidence that we did, infact, live in havelock but she continued to make up every excuse. She even was given a utility account with my name and our current address on it and she still claimed "that doesn't prove its yours". It's a LIBRARY CARD. You dont work at the pentagon and we are just trying to sign our CHILD up for a reading program. Its no wonder nobody comes to the library anymore when the miserable staff at

I have found the ladies here very polite and helpful. I go here instead of Newport which is 5 minutes from my home but I found them to be rude and acted like I was a lot of trouble. Havelock library always helps with a smile. Computers are junk

They used to have good books to choose from on Hoopla, then they all went away. Can this be fixed?
