Happy Garden

Came here to eat some egg drop soup and sesame chicken,they were both good and portion size was great. They also give you tea for free. They didn’t check on us much but overall it was good.

The staff here are great. The food is less salty then other Chinese restaurants, some which may not like but I would definitely eat those over strong flavored Chinese food.

My mother and I were here this afternoon but only after going up and down Hillside Avenue until we made one last attempt and finally we found Happy Garden in a strip mall. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and the atmosphere was relaxing and quite pleasant. My mother had her BBQ spare-ribs with roast pork fried rice and I had the chicken with broccoli also with roast pork fried rice, wonton soup and we each had ice cream. The service and food were very good and there was plenty of parking and once we found the restaurant we were very easily able to find our way back to Lakeville Road to go to Macy's do our Christmas shopping. We will definitely return and probably order something else next time. It is definitely worth a second visit!

vegetarian food review: -> VEGETABLE FRIED RICE: super yum and flavorful (can customise the spice). The quantity was so worth the money. 100/10 -> BROCOLLI WITH GARLIC SAUCE: one of the best things i have tried. goes so well with plain white rice or even better with the fried rice. we got it made super spicy and COULDNT get enough of it. Again omg the quantity was soooo goooood. 3 people shared the above 2 dishes along with some light soup and we were all full, so cost effective, the bill was 30 dollars and iM more than happy to write this review. Only negative points for me: 1. they use eggs to make their noodles, so i couldn't try them 2. not much variety for vegetarians who dont eat eggs. 3. will be really nice if they can have a separate whole vegetarian section.

So the place is dated and I hope it never changes. It's small, just about a handful of tables. Their main business sends to be takeout. But even a takeout place, the food is better fresh. Thankfully we ate in and it was delicious! I know some people would say the sauces were too sweet, but General Tsao's Chicken is supposed to be. It was crispy and in sure I could ask for more spice. The chicken and broccoli wasn't swimming in oil and the portion size was great. The pork lo mein was tasty, but I was a touch too oily. The shrimp with vegetables in garlic sauce was absolutely delicious. Keep in mind this is American style Chinese food, not meant to be authentic. If you're looking for a throw back on New York style Chinese food, go there!
