Handel's Homemade Ice Cream

My wife and I ordered two pints from Handel’s and I’m pretty sure they delivered them by rocket sled, because they showed up super fast. Like I barely had time to pretend I wasn’t going to eat the whole pint in one sitting fast. Everything arrived cold, perfect, and ready to ruin my self control. I got the Banana Cream Pie, and let me tell you, this one is a full on dessert experience. The banana flavor is smooth and natural, not that fake candy banana vibe, with that rich custardy creaminess that tastes like it was made by someone’s grandma who takes pie extremely personally. It’s sweet without being over the top, and it has that fresh bakery dessert feel, like banana pudding and pie filling had a baby and that baby grew up to be an overachiever. Everyone is incredibly nice! Service is 10. If you’re not sure about the flavor, they let you try them! They were out of one of my favorites, but the alternative they offered may be even better!! Best ice cream I’ve ever had. Super thick and flavorful. Prices are great too!!

So many delicious flavors. I love the snickerdoodle and the pineapple upside down cake. My son loves the salted caramel truffle and the pretzel crunch. The staff is always friendly and the ice cream is always delicious.

This was my first time visiting Handel's Homemade Ice Cream while out of town, and my experience was excellent. I received wonderful customer service from the moment I walked up to the window. I had a great interaction with Tod, the store owner, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. He let me sample two delicious flavors — Coffee Chocolate Chip and Spouse Like A House — and both were amazing. I ended up ordering a brownie sundae, and it did not disappoint. The ice cream was rich, the brownie was warm, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. Because of how great my first experience was, I will absolutely be returning. I’m already looking forward to trying more flavors!

The prices are fair for what you get (which is hard to find) and I’ve enjoyed just about all of the flavors. Tonight, however…Handel’s singlehandedly put my diet at risk. I’ve been cutting back on sugar and, until today, haven’t had anything sweet I’ve craved enough to put that at risk. The Chocolate Raspberry Truffle ice cream changed that. I only got one scoop…and I am forcing myself to not jump back in the car and get a pint. It is the most decadent, indulgent thing. The day it rotates out of their flavor line-up will be heartbreaking and a huge relief at the same time. Well played, Handel’s…well played.
