Hamono Sushi

I think this was a good one time experience. It is AYCE so perhaps the $100 pp is justified. The omakase was alright. It came with a sake pairing and they were quite generous. The staff was super efficient and very tentative. Everything came out pretty quickly. I enjoyed the ratio of rice to fish. Also wish they had asked whether we were okay with sitting at the high tops.

We were having a blast at Hamono sushi. The quality of food was unbeatable, the hospitality was amazing. We had the chance to chat with the owner Jimmy, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about what he’s doing. Strongly recommend this cozy place for anyone who craves a high quality fish and authentic sushi meals. The price for AYCE omakase includes sake tasting is definitely worth every penny!!!

Hamono Sushi offers a great value for the price, especially with the unique combination of omakase and all-you-can-eat. Some highlights for our group were the A5 wagyu, toro, and scallops. The uni toro tartare was good, although the toro-to-chip ratio could have been better. The spicy edamame was salty but addicting. Yellowtail snapper was tasty, but the cut and presentation could be improved. That said, the salmon was just okay, which was disappointing since our group loves salmon. The ikura was a bit too boozy for my liking. We were also bummed that the seared ika was on the menu but not included in our omakase, and the buri-hara was unavailable even though it’s listed on the all-you-can-eat menu. Whoa Portland! This is the best sushi experience I've had in years. That's right years! As I write, they are offering an All you can eat Omakase dinner that is amazing. 1. The range of fish offered was amazing. Including some Sea Bream! 2. The quality of the fish is AAA+. 3. The owner/operators are right there checking on your order, pouring sake and chatting with customers. 4. The kitchen chefs were exceeding all expectations as well. Hamano is my new favororite PNW-Portland sushi bar. I really encourage you to try it if you love sushi. The place is not very large so go early or be prepared for a crowd. It was packed at 5pm when I had dinner!
