What a delicious experience! Our server was so welcoming and even taught us some Aramaic phrases for us to exchange. We ordered the diabulbule meatballs from the appetizers, and then #23 that came with 4 varieties of stews to eat with the ingeera which were all seasoned and cooked amazingly. There were 3 of us friends who split the food, where our server was helpful to make sure we knew that the serving size was intended for one person. The portion worked well to tide us between lunch and dinner. We concluded our meal with ceremonial coffee that comes with incense, spiced coffee, and popcorn (that surprisingly goes so well with the coffee). The coffee was smooth and can be enjoyed black or with the white sugar provided. I’m not usually a black coffee drinker, but it was delicious here!

Had dinner for the first time at Habesha. We were so excited to try as new folks from out of town....We were pleasantly greeted right away by the owner when we walked in. Mango juice was excellent. We were disappointed that the fried fish was not on the menu, but lots of other options for Pesceterians We tried lentil samosas and they were pretty good. Veggie platter was just ok - cabbage was tasty, lentils and greens were a bit salty, potatoes were good. Injera was nice and fresh. Servers were very nice and busy as it was on a saturday night. We took icecream and baklava to go for the kids. Restaurant has a nice relaxed vibe, a nice bar in the side with a large TV. Ethiopian music was a nice touch and we enjoyed the vibe.

Truly amazing experience! Best Ethiopian food in New Haven CT. All food is delicious but I recommend ordering Doro Wot, Shekla Tibis and the Special Beyaynetu. Don't forget the coffee ceremony (you must try). They have the best service!!

My first time having Ethiopian food and it was INCREDIBLE!! Delicious food where there’s something for everyone, and such a communal experience for conversation. It is family owned and Solomon was so kind and enthusiastic to share his wife’s cooking with us. I could not recommend this place enough, please go here!

Well worth your time! We grabbed lunch and had the doro wot and kay wot. The owner greeted us and generously explained all the options. He gave excellent recommendations and the food was absolutely fantastic. The place has a great ambiance - combination of brick and wood walls. Very welcoming atmosphere. They recently celebrated their 1-year anniversary. This place is a gem in New Haven. As we were leaving the owner brought us some genuine Ethiopian coffee. Incredibly aromatic and full of great flavors. Try this place for a authentic Ethiopian food experience. Very friendly staff. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
