Gunnison County Public Library

The Gunnison Library is a wonderful community resource, but it is seriously lacking when it comes to personal workspace areas. There are only three or four desks available for people who want to study, work on a laptop, or simply have a quiet place to focus. Unfortunately, these desks are almost always occupied from open to close, which makes it very difficult to find a spot. Meanwhile, the bookshelves, while well-stocked, seem to go virtually un-browsed most of the time. It feels like the space could be better balanced to meet the needs of today’s library users, many of whom rely on libraries for study or remote work. Adding more tables, individual workstations, or flexible seating areas would make this library much more accessible and inviting for everyone.

We love story time with Kate. My mother-in-law goes every Thursday and I try to come as many Mondays as I possibly can with my sons. She really helped me get through the winter with two boys three and under. She does a great job engaging and keeping them focused and when she senses that everyone is getting a little bit antsy, she is able to break things up with some gross motor play using song and scarves, etc. What a wonderful and free resource we have in our valley. Not a single window in this building can be opened for fresh air. The air inside is thick like in an old basement or a cave. I actually see it as a health hazard. Low oxygen will make you sick.

Passing through from Texas and me and my husband needed to stop and print out a few pages . Where we live we get charged a fee to print so coming by and not having to pay for the prints was great ! I didn’t catch the name of the lady who helped ! But service was great ! And we appreciated it very much

Amazing, cozy, clean library. They have restrooms, a water fountain, books, dvds, cds and more. The child area is very nice with books, toys and small tables. There is free wifi too! My only complaint is that there is no self check out. You have to wait for a librarian to check everything out for you.
