Grotto Pizza

Ordered through DoorDash. My poor driver had to wait 20 minutes for the pizza to be ready so I tipped him extra. I was hoping the wait was do to popularity just being busy but once I tasted the pizza I can only think incompetence at the business. The pizza arrived well handled. Unfortunately the taste is worse than a Red Barron at 4 times the price. The crust tastes either frozen or living in the fridge for many days. Cheese has 0 flavor. Sauce tastes of tomato paste and nothing else. Pepperoni might as well not even be there. Maybe US foods bulk ultra cheap pepperoni? I’ve never tasted anything like this. All in all it looked like a cheap version of a blaze pizza. The taste reminded me of my youth when McDonald’s offered those pizza happy meals. Cardboard and concentrated tomatoes. 0 othe

Bathrooms at 5pm no one in restaurant smelled like piss basically floor in bathroom and on sales floor so sticky my shoes almost came off. Piss smell could be smelled with in 20 ft outside. Been eating at Grottos for since I was a kind. Shane on this one not that you care. Food warm. No service in site. And disappointing. Oh no hand blower or paper towel dispenser in bathroom. Torn off wall.

Par. Pizza is par, bar picks favorites and let’s the rest wait for hours unless you pay $30+/each. Go to Klondike or Hyatt. Even deer park is better. West Chester > Newark. Don’t go here

I was really disappointed with my experience here. The pizza arrived cold, and the quality of the ingredients was noticeably poor. The crust and toppings had a bland, almost cardboard-like taste, which made it hard to enjoy even a few bites. For the price, I expected something fresher and more flavorful. Unfortunately, this just didn’t meet basic expectations for pizza. I won’t be ordering again unless there’s a significant improvement in quality and freshness

I returned to Grotto in Newark after having a positive experience on a previous visit. This time I came to take advantage of the 5$ off dine in large pizza special. The bar was fairly occupied and the large dining room was empty. I scanned the provided QR code and pulled up the menu on my phone. I was ready to order as soon as the server appeared. The pizza came out quickly and was not disappointing. Grotto pizzas have a unique flavour and you won’t mistake it for anywhere else. That includes both national chains and local pizza shops. The cheese and the sauce make it just right snd that, in turn, makes it just Grotto.
