Grey House at CoSM

We are in town for the NXR regionals (x-country race). I thought this was a b&b but in actuality it’s not. More like a rooming house that’s part of a hippie compound. The room was nice, antique, large, and they set up an extra bed for us with a real mattress which was great for a party of 3. BUT you aren’t supposed to wear shoes inside (?) yet the floors are not new or super clean. The water is orange and smells like sulfur (rotten eggs!) Not potable. The tub was orange. There was no hairdryer. I am walking around with wet hair now outside in the drizzle. :( and in the morning there was no attendant to ask for a hairdryer. The breakfast was self-service. Cereals, bagels, and make your own eggs, etc. Even make your own coffee! Really?! There’s odd psychedelic artwork everywhere. And a

I stayed here because it seemed more interesting than a chain hotel. The grounds are peaceful, gorgeous, and psychedelic art is scattered throughout the property. A room comes with a make your own breakfast bar and admission to the museum. Arrived late but check in and check out was very easy. All the folks working there and staying there were friendly. It’s just a few minutes to Wappingers Falls and about 25 to Beacon.

This was a great experience. We only spent one night but we enjoyed the museum (great!) and the house. We felt at home. Everyone made us feel welcomed and while the house IS grand and beautiful, it's not pretentious. Loved our visit and will return for sure.

This is a gem. A soulful sanctuary near the Hudson. Built around 1865 this mansion is mystical.
