Grinnell Library

My friends and I collected Toys for Tots, as a tribute for a friend who did the same annually, but passed on this summer. I stopped by the library yesterday to see if they could accept so many donations, practically a whole box full. I was greeted by the friendliest woman who was working at the front desk. She was thrilled with our donations, said that their coat drive was a huge success but that there weren’t many toy donations. Unfortunately, I didn’t get her name. She took the attached photo.

This library is one of the oldest libraries in Wappingers Falls. It's been around for 152 years. The Grinnell Library is still intact today.

The library itself is great. Great activities for the kids. For the most part staff is kind, polite and very helpful. But on 7/29/2022 I went in with my 2 girls. 6.5yo and 4.5yo to join the Lego Club. My 4.5yo had to use the restroom (which was right around the corner). I asked my 6.5 yo if she had to use the restroom, she said no and that she will stay working on her Legos. The lady (Nancy the librarian)sitting at the desk interrupted and said that if my daughter wants to run off, she can run off. That's she's not responsible if something happens to my daughter. (Agree! But my daughter does follow directions well. Grinnell is a treasure of New York state. its historical significance is just one aspect of its prolific existence. touring its unique sections is a wonderful experience you will not forget. its perfectly tattered architecture invokes eerie vibes of the past, which only enhances the entirety of your visit. the shelves are always neat, and organized to guide you through strands of classic & highly celebrated literature. whether it be names you recognize or ones that peek your interest, their diverse selections do not disappoint. furthermore, the library staff is full of enthusiastic faces that are down to earth and extremely helpful, no matter how picky your literary desires are. as a writer myself, I must also add this Library has been a major inspiration for my fiction.
