I was in here for 10 minutes for the first time and there was nobody to take my order so I had to leave. It was my first time visiting so I’m not sure how normal it is. I’m hoping today was just a fluke because the desserts look amazing, like catering quality. Quiet inside

When you are craving an authentic taste of Italy, head to the South Delray Shopping Center on Federal Highway. Tucked into an unassuming spot between Pinch a Penny Pool and a dentist office is the hidden gem, Grelma. The family that owns Grelma is from Italy. I found out about this charming bakery from an Instagram photo showcasing their amazing Italian sandwiches. By the time I finally made it to them I just needed an afternoon pick me up. The owner made me a cappuccino and I carefully studied their delicious selection of pastries that included crostatine, stella, cheesecake, cookies, and strawberry stars. After much contemplation I ended up choosing an enormous chocolate croissant that I couldn't even finish in one sitting. It was soft and flaky and filled with melt in your mouth chocol

Absolutely perfect bakery and cafe. The staff and atmosphere are very nice and coffee and baked goods need to be tried to be appreciated. Highly recommended

Update: Just tried their sandwich special today, which was mortadella, mozzarella, arugula and fresh tomato on their fresh baguette…..amazing and totally under priced. The most authentic Italian bakery in the area, with proprietors having moved here from Italy a few years ago. Their breads and pizza are all on the order of “soft” dough, from a 30 year secret family starter, that makes it the real deal. That said, if a crispy loaf of Italian bread or pizza is what you desire, this is not your place. Desert pastries are also outstanding. Their commitment to quality is on par with their strong work ethic, both husband and wife that work in unison to execute amazing Italian offerings beyond bread, pizza and deserts. Update: Grelma Bakery has closed and is no longer in business. Grelma is a hidden gem! Fabulous authentic Italian pastries, breads, soups & sandwiches made from scratch daily. Everything we tried was amazing and delicious. The croissants are huge and flaky, the lemon muffin was moist and tangy/sweet. Illy coffee completes the experience.
