Customer Reviews
I had two small cheese pizzas there about a year apart. Both times, the tomato sauce was too salty for my taste. The place has a nice atmosphere at night, and Madison has a charming downtown, so if you sit by the window you can people-watch.
Grand Apizza Madison is hands down one of the best pizza spots around. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels welcoming and relaxed, and the staff treats you like family. The pizza is outstanding — perfectly crisp crust, fresh ingredients, and that authentic New Haven–style flavor that keeps you coming back for more. We ordered a variety of pies and everything came out hot, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can tell they take pride in quality and consistency. Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice or sitting down with friends and family, this place delivers every time. If you’re anywhere near Madison and love great pizza, Grand Apizza is a must-visit. Already looking forward to the next visit.
Slice Mob Hits Madison: Grand Apizza Delivers the Goods The Slice Mob rolled into Grand Apizza in Madison for our monthly meetup—and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. This place has been slinging pies for 70 years, and it’s easy to see why they’re still going strong. We were greeted with warm smiles and incredible hospitality from Mike and his team. The vibe is classic and comfortable, with a “family-run since day one” feel that makes you want to stay a while. As always, I started with the gold standard: the tomato pie with grated cheese. Absolute perfection. The sauce was bright and tangy with a natural tomato sweetness, balanced beautifully by the salty bite of the cheese. The crust? Thin, crisp, with just the right amount of char and that New Haven–style smoky kiss. Heaven.
The food is good but don’t rely on their estimate of being ready particularly on a Friday night. The estimate is routinely 15 minutes early. The utilize the Slice app and once the order is confirmed the app and restaurant are no longer connected. After a 49 minute wait the app said it was ready and when I arrived at the restaurant it had not been started. When I asked why they shrugged their shoulders and didn’t even answer. Again, good food but plan ahead.
This location turns out consistent pizza so good I never have to drive into New Haven. The best part, my order is usually ready in 20 minutes from when I place it online even if I order at 6 pm on a Friday night. I don't have patience for having to order way in advance or for waiting around for take out like some other places require. There must be 20 people in the kitchen here when they are busy. They really know how to handle volume while preserving quality. The dough consistency and sauce flavor, level of cook and cheese/sauce ratio are always top notch here. The dinner entrees are really decent too.
