Golden Skillet

I ordered the special cheeseburger combo. The burger was completely burnt. I thought the crunching was from the big cubes of onion. There was 3 tablespoons of mustard which helped cover the burnt burger. When I opened it and looked I was amazed that they would put that on a customer’s order. When I went back to show them, a cook came from the back and said she couldn’t fix me another one because I ate most of it. I’m diabetic and needed to eat. I ate a few fries but in General wasted my money.

I love gizzards and hubby loves livers. In an off chance, we stopped at this long, established restaurant and were surprised at both its cleanliness and atmosphere as well as its amazing gizzards and livers lol. By atmosphere, I mean, sometimes these mom and pop diners have been here a long time, and you just never know. But it was charming. It is obviously a well known favorite. They have new fans now! Sorry I actually forgot photos.

If you want to bypass the fast food locations the Golden Skillet has a huge menu that is made-to-order homemade cooking. They have so many food options. And the price is reasonable. I must confess that the fried gizzard is the best in the state of North Carolina. They have melt-in-your-mouth super tender gizzards that you will not find anywhere else. Most of the food that is offered here you will find at a sit-down restaurant versus a fast food location. I also was amazed at how golden brown and tasty the pork chops were made. The menu is very detailed with their prices. The workers are all nice, attentive and friendly. The dining area is very fresh and clean with great window lighting. I have been driving right pass this place for years and everytime I drive by the lines are long and the inside is full...So on Sunday September 28th we finally decided it was time for us to check out the food...let's start with the Customer Service was outstanding!!! Restaurant was full and the wait wasn't long... I ordered the gizzards dinner...I have never had soft gizzards, no chew to them, no seasoning, just WRONG all the way around! Paid the extra. 99 for Collards that tasted like they came straight from the can...the potato said was good and so was the hush puppies outside of that...it was my 1st and last time.

This has got to be the most expensive potato salad for the smallest portion ever! You pay close to $4 for a tiny container of potato salad that is not well seasoned. And why do they rip you off when you use a credit card by charging a fee? They are making a killing!
