Glenwood Drive-In

The last time I was being here in 2019, and I came back again because I missed their hot dogs and ice cream. It's hard to believe they've been around since 1955. If you're in Hamden, don't miss checking in here.

Everything was cooked exactly as I asked for and exactly how I like it. The hot dogs are fantastic (I believe they’re hummels) and their spicy relish has good flavor and a nice kick to it. On the other hand, the chili on the chili cheese dog is very dry and bland so I probably wouldn’t get that again and just go with two regular dogs. Honestly, the only thing that kept me from giving it a 5 was the price (and the chili). It cost a little over $20 for 2 hot dogs, fries and a drink. Other than that though, it was fantastic and I’ll definitely be back (when I have extra money)

My friend took me here the other night and I’m so glad she did. I ordered this lobster roll with onion rings and I am officially in heaven. The meat was perfect, and sweet, and chewy. The butter made it even tastier. I ate it all up in less than 10 mins. It’s not often you find a lobster roll this good, yet here we are. One of the best I’ve had in the state, hands down.

Staff is friendly & welcoming. Sadly, seems like everything is overcooked. Burgers, fries, hot dogs, zucchini fries. Zero flavor to their sauerkraut. Hot dogs are big, have a nice snap & are charred, which is ok, but tasteless. Appreciate the fixin' bar. Their fries use to be amazing, not sure what happened.

Surprisingly I did another visit on 10/6/2025. After giving it some time to revisit due to a review prior to this one, but this time I was VERY impressed to see that everyone at this establishment were wearing gloves while cooking and preparing customers orders! All the prep areas were clean, spotless and I also appreciate that they continue to have a designated area to order your food. It displeases me to go into any restaurant and see the same people that are cashing out and touching people's money and credit cards then turn around and prepare food and bag customers order that's disgusting BUT at Glenwood they've made the distinction between the two areas and that's a plus for me!!
