General Warren

The inn is a historic "roadhouse," dating from 1745. It's charming, but quirky with cozy rooms and suites, but aged bathrooms and furniture. What makes this place great is the restaurant. The food is excellent and the wine list, while not extensive, is very reasonable. We had one of the best steak Au Poivre meals in years and the Steak Frites was very good. Service at the inn and particularly the restaurant are very pleasant and welcoming. The grounds are extensive, but a bit a jumble, and you could get lost in the many dining areas. But the age group does seem to be AARP average, or older, so the rooms are quiet and reserved, at least when we went. We avoided the live music.

We had an absolutely phenomenal dining experience at this wonderful restaurant. First of all, thanks to the host upfront that granted my request and gave us the table by the fireplace, it made for an absolutely phenomenal evening. After our server Terry came over and took our cocktail order we spent about 10 minutes reviewing the extensive menu and narrowing down our choices. We thoroughly enjoyed the snapper soup and the shrimp cocktail for our appetizers. The halibut and the crabcakes were absolutely out of this world. I must mention that the chefs preparation for the halibut was so unique that it left us wanting a lot more. We stay a night at the Inn annually in February as our little getaway. Charming rooms and atmosphere with attentive hosts and workers. Great bar and dining at the restaurant which has various rooms for seating. The porch is 4 season and very romantic. We'll be back again next year!

Amazing food. Never a bad experience. Team makes you feel like a family is properly taking care of you. There is not a negative thing I could say about this place! Amanda has been my favorite so far, highly recommended for your next date night out!

This was second experience at the General Warren, a year apart from each other. We were there for a private event. It began with butler passed hors d'oeuvres served in the downstairs room. The room is lovely with cozy fire places and indoor fire pits however it warms up very fast once filled with people. Hors d’oeuvres included shrimp cocktail, Asian chicken skewers, cheesesteak spring rolls, and sweet pea hummus tarts. All delicious. Our dinner was served off the bar in a private room. We had a choice from 5 first courses, 5 second courses and several desserts. I opted for the French Onion Bisque (a clever take on French onion soup), braised filet carbonara and a raspberry mousse to finish. I also tried a taste of their well known snapper turtle soup. I was very impressed with all of the
