This place was just what we were looking for - very close to New Paltz and its restaurants but enough out in the country to be quiet and peaceful. You can walk to the Gatehouse and trail! The screenhouse was fabulous and it was great having a hot tub and pool. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.|I would actually rate this a 4.5 because I really liked it, there are just a couple things that people should be aware of. First, it is not a bed and breakfast and food provided was less than what was on the website (no muffins or hardboiled eggs). There was fruit, coffee, some drinks, sugary cereal and milk, and raw eggs with a cooker (!). Fortunately, the Walkill market was nearby with baked goods and cheese. Rick and Cindy run this wooded retreat rental as an extension of their home. I will stay the location is great – a walkable back road but a short drive into town. The bed was comfortable, the shower upstairs is huge and the pool was lovely and well maintained. However, I have to advise anyone with a mold sensitivity to steer clear of this property. Everything in the rooms seemed and smelled old and damp. To be fair, you are certainly in the woods, but a dehumidifier or new carpets and bedding could go a long way. The décor should be more neutral and less personal things should be out on display as well. Instead of feeling welcomed into our own space your guests feel like they’re intruding on yours. Spent the weekend with friends in New Paltz at GATEHOUSE GARDENS. Rick and Cindy were so sweet and accommodating. We highly enjoyed meeting them and sharing their GORGEOUS property. ||The rooms are. Nice, they have what u need and a few items if you want to eat a light breakfast in your room. ||The bed in the Mohonk room is a bit small for our liking. We are queen or king bed people and this is a full. It also wasn’t the most comfortable mattress. But the place it self is so nice we can definitely overlook that . ||The pool and hot tub are incredible as are the gardens and just the overall property. ||We highly recommend this place and thank Rick and Cindy for sharing it !!

I had a delightful stay at this bed and breakfast! The host was incredibly friendly, and the cozy space provided a comfortable atmosphere. Plus, its proximity to the hike trail was a definite bonus for outdoor enthusiasts like myself. Highly recommend for a welcoming and convenient experience.

Rick and Cindy were caring accessible hosts who went out of their way to meet our needs. Peaceful setting with the ability to take long walks from the B&B. Convenient to New Paltz town and sites. We appreciated the kitchen, breakfast provisions, fresh fruit, and complimentary wine.
