Super consistent and good. I grew up in Ambridge but moved away for several years. I was so nostalgic for this place and was happy it’s stayed the same when I moved back. Always friendly, can get a pizza in 20 minutes when they’re not busy. We’re big fans of the thick pepperonis and sauce on top
Did you ever have one of those days where nothing goes right, until one thing finally does, and then everything else just....clicks? That's the kind of day it was for my friend and I yesterday when we had the incredible fortune to find ourselves hankering for pizza after a long shift at work, and stumbled into Frank's Pizzeria in Ambridge on the drive home! When you walk into a pizzeria, and see generations of one family slinging pies, and a photo of the Patriarchal Pie Maker proudly hung up on the wall, you know you've just walked into Pizza Heaven! Not to mention, Frank's amazing wife Costanza to this day still makes pizza and calzones right alongside her kids and grandkids! Frank's does multiple things right, and really nothing wrong. For the style of pie they make, it's complete a
This is some of the best pizza in existence. An Ambridge staple. Such a unique taste and unique crunch, I've never been able to find anything quite like it. Most pizza shops all taste the same. Frank's Pizzeria does it different... and they do it right! (Because they've been in buisness for decades).
This is the only place around in Ambridge, so I can understand why it's an institution. And the people are very friendly. It's take out only and the pizza takes 20 minutes (calzones 25), so call ahead or figure out how you're going to kill the time. The pizza was pretty good, but nothing special - although having the cheese under the sauce is a little alarming. The homemade sausage is a standout, as are the brined green peppers. I found the calzone to be better than the pizza - very nice texture to the crust.
The family that owns Frank’s is such a nice, kind group. We felt right at home walking through the door. There are no tables, so we took our pizza and calzone home. Everything was so fresh with quality ingredients. The sauce was perfectly balanced with some sweet and some tang. Give them a try!
