Foothill Market

I'd heard a new business opened here in place of the old County store. I was on the hunt for some good clam chowder and I just happen to see on the menu that they offered clam chowder and not just on Friday's like a lot of places. Plus it mentioned BACON on the menu, gotta have bacon in clam chowder. I just had a great clam chowder at a different restaurant, but there was no bacon or meat besides clams! The inside is remodeled real nice and bright and clean. It's still a general store with a small produce section and well as wine and beer and even breakfast cereal! I came with a friend that was more interested in the sandwiches they had. We each ordered the clam chowder, me a bowl and he got just a cup. The Spicy Genoa is the sandwich I’ve ever had! Great selection of frosty cold beers on tap. The homemade potato salad is the perfect balance of flavor. They had a French onion soup as the soup of the day and it was AMAZING! Absolutely adored the entire market and the staff is super friendly. An absolute must if you’re visiting or passing through Genoa.

So excited to have a trendy but cozy addition to the Carson valley. The mid century modern feel to the market is a fun and fresh update, setting it vastly apart from its predecessor that occupied the space. Foothill market offers an approachable menu of soups and sandwiches as well as a few beers on tap and soft serve. So far, I've tried the muffuletta and the veggie sandwich, both were stellar. I've had the veggie sandwich twice and it was consistently delicious and well made. Today I also had the clam chowder and I have to say it may be the best I’ve ever had. The offerings in the market are fun and fresh, and you'll definitely find unique gifts and treats to take home. I'm excited to brag about a new spot in Genoa to my friends from out of town, and will be a frequent guest!
