Felix's BBQ With Soul

This place used to be good but fell off the cliff with terrible service and the quality. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich to get everything separate in containers. Empty bun,meat in another container no slaw either just bread sauce and a little bit of meat. Felix was there and he had every excuse and still got the order wrong. Sorry this place is going downhill quickly. Check out the Chicken place on the other side of the building. More friendly there.

We ordered the baby back rib dinner with sauce on the side so that we could try it with and without sauce. Amazing! Fall off the bone tender, smoky flavor. We also love the St. Louis ribs. The corn muffins are the best as our the sides (my wife likes the baked beans and candied yams). Highly recommended. We discovered and love the Oceanside location but Carlsbad is so close for us and it is wonderful (did I mention the gumbo and shrimp and grits!). SO good!! Give a try!!

Since moving to California I've struggled to find good BBQ. Felix is now a staple. Not only is the food excellent and the staff friendly, but the lunch menu is a fantastic value. I highly recommend the baby back ribs!

I ordered the full rack of BBQ spare ribs. It came with two sides so I got macaroni and cheese, and southern style baked beans with bacon and cornbread. Pictures of menu and dishes provided. Overall spent 39$. The ribs - Extremely tender. Fall off the bone. But the flavor isn’t there really. You need extra BBQ sauce to really get much of anything from it. Overall disappointing. Macaroni and cheese - Very curdled/grainy. Strong cheese flavor but the grainy texture was a bit much. Beans with bacon - Literally no bacon in it whatsoever. Sweet pleasant flavor. Probably the best of the things I ordered. Cornbread - It was corn bread. Not the best ever. But it was not bad. Overall I rate this visit 7/10. Very beautiful food. Very tender. This place is terrific! I don’t eat out often, but when I do Felix’s is always at the top of my list. Everything on the menu is delicious, everything. Last night we had a quarter chicken, quarter ribs, a side of braised cabbage, and a side of fried green tomatoes (these are our go to sides) It was enough to feed three people, maybe even four. It was piping hot when we picked it up and so yummy. The chicken and ribs fell right off the bone and were so tasty.The cabbage is always very good, but I am particularly in love with their fried green tomatoes. I cannot get enough of them. They are perfectly breaded and cooked and so tart when you bite into them. And that dipping sauce they give you for them makes them even better. And you always get a nice corn muffin or two with your order and they
