Fat Lady Baker

Went in for the first time thinking I had finally found a local bakery, but it's not quite what I think of when I hear the word "bakery". There is a very small, very cramped "retail" area when you enter, but the rest of the store is the kitchen. They only have bread on Fridays; the rest of the week their specialty seems to be prepared meals for takeout. As I was looking for baked goods, I was underwhelmed and disappointed. Fortunately, it was a Friday, so I was happy to grab a sourdough loaf. There was not a large variety of any other kind of baked goods available, which was disappointing. There were some cookies, which did not impress me enough to purchase (and I bake my own cookies all of the time anyway). This is a local women owned business. I’ve been getting their food for years. On Friday morning they have great bread and pastries. (The chocolate croissant is delicious and their sourdough bread is the best.) Their pumpkin, blueberry and ginger bread are amazing. I love their to-go meals for days I just don’t want to cook. Their pimento cheese is a huge hit at our tailgate events. Would highly recommend you give them a try.

Love the bakery! Ladies there are nice and giving great advice. Tried the chicken pot pie, cookies, chocolate croissant and Danish. It was all delicious. Love the baguette as well and Italian bread. Used the bread to make French toast and it was the best! Prices are reasonable for quality. Service can’t be beat. They offered me a cookie for my first time and texted us when baguettes were ready for pick up!

Popped by the Shallowford Rd / BP Gas Station location for the first time on Saturday morning & had the pleasure of meeting Kathleen who filled me in on all the goodness that is the Fat Lady Baker! I was pleasantly surprised to hear of the quality ingredients that goes into the daily prepared meals. The chicken is organic from a local farm, the beef sourced from Buckhead Beef, the veggies are fresh & sourced locally when possible. Awesome!! Each entree comes with a baguette or veggie. I chose the chicken pot pie & green beans. It was absolutely delicious!! I also picked up a pastry & tried the baguette, both were fantastic. This is a neighborhood gem for a homemade meal on the go. Entrees rotate daily & bakery items are available on Saturdays. Highly recommend!

Went in for the first time today to pick up some bread to go with a fall soup & we were so pleased!! They had a delicious baguette & sourdough that they sliced for us. We also picked up a pumpkin whoopie pie, which was delicious!!!
