Expressway Pit Beef

I grew up two miles from Expressway and shockingly I’ve never been here. My friend and I visited the other day. I ordered pit turkey sandwich with cheese and mayo and side order of Mac n cheese. My friend ordered the pit beef sandwich and side order of honey old bay wings. Both sandwiches were just okay and both rated 6/10…which was a bit disappointing. And the Mac n cheese has a weird taste and was not good at all 1/10. However, the wings were very good and friend rated 10/10. Prices were very fair and employee was nice guy, no complaints there. However, the length it took to get our food (20+ minutes) felt way too long, especially since there was 1 person ordered ahead of us. Excellent roadside spot for some A+ Maryland Pit Beef. The wings take longer, but are made-to-order (call ahead if you don't like waiting). We usually get the Honey Old Bay sauce, but the buffalo is fantastic as well. For the beef: Plenty of toppings available, to include hot sauce, horseradish, mustard, etc. Fries are boardwalk style, and totally legit. We love any excuse to come to expressway. They do fried turkeys for thanksgiving too!

This is an excellent place to get real pit beef! Good prices, large sandwiches and they allow you to make it your way, no extra charge for normal toppings. Their sides are fantastic. Real fries and baked beans. Why anyone would go to Five Guys with this place around is beyond me. They have outdoor seating which we have used when driving or as a stop near the bike trail.

I got fries and the pit beef sandwich. The sandwich is really bad. Dry, cold, flavorless, honestly, everything a sandwich shouldn’t be. And I have so much of it left. I really wouldn’t recommend. I don’t know if this is an off day for them, but it really wasn’t good. And I tried a couple of bites and I just couldn’t do it

We really wanted to like this bbq spot. It wasn’t good , the only side that was good were the corn nuggets. The pit beef sandwich had no sauce and meat was dry . The ribs were tough and chewy like . The bbq sauce made them appear like they were going to be delicious but totally opposite. The sides tasted like grocery store quality like the macaroni salad. Mac and cheese was ok . The meat was the most disappointing and its a meat place. I would not recommend. The young man was friendly at the register.
