Essex Free Library

Nice library, would recommend. Librarians are very nice, the basement is a dedicated kids section, nice printer, clean bathrooms, very interesting interior design and architecture. I frequent the Brownell, it has twice the selection, but this was nice, and the two story open concept is interesting.

I love libraries. Usually you don't know what's behind the door when you're opening it other than books. This particular library is interesting in its interior design. There are three stories entering at the basement. Set a remind me of one of those southern plantation homes. There is an elevator for anyone who is mobility challenged. The handicap parking is located close to the building. However, you do significantly have to walk around the building and open door which has to be opened from the inside There's a doorbell to press to get someone's attention to open the door. When I was leaving, there was a huge amount of dried leaves that blocked the door on the outside, making it difficult to step over them. The wind must have conjured up this day, I'm guessing. They were not there when

The library is very beautiful and charming. The only reason I am giving 1 star is because of the staffs. I was there on 03/28/2023 to get some of my online courses done. There was a young lady in the reception who was very polite, sweet, and kind. I had went to her to get some refill of water in my water bottle. She was kind enough to take it in the back and refill it for me twice. But before I was about to leave I noticed she was not there, there were two older ladies and I asked them politely if they could just provide me with some drinking water from the sink the kitchen area which was just next to the reception desk. Upon hearing my request the lady was like " Oh we do not have any drinking water here, The only place you can get water in the library is inside the Restroom " I was shock

Such friendly and helpful staff! So many options, so many events and activities happening here, and the hours are so convenient!

Some of the most helpful and most pleasant staff I've interacted with in a long time, and a beautifully maintained building.
