Ericson Public Library

LOVE LOVE this library. I do not care for the Ames library and this one has more activities(downstairs kids area)and is less busy and so quiet. They have a fantastic summer program for kids with special guests.

I haven't stepped foot here in years but I spent almost everyday here as a kid/teen in the 90s and early 2000s. I was homeschooled so I was taken to the library a lot. This place holds some magic for me that no other library has. I remember interviewing one of the staff as a kid for an assignment and she was so nice to me. Truly a gem of a library.

Needed assistance, asked for help. Short haired librarian with grey hair helped me. She was hostile. I was polite. As I was leaving, I thanked her for helping. Again. She was rude again. I worked for 8 years in the University of Iowa's libraries. Anything a patron can do, I have witnessed. Asking for help that literally took 15 seconds to do in no way should lead to the contempt I was treated with.

Zach and Jessica do such fun and interactive story times. They always make sure you feel safe in the library. Everyone is so polite and helpful it's a lovely little safespace for kids, teens, teens, and adults so many nice activities

Large library with fantastic programs and a strong online presence (especially on Facebook). They have a lot of video streaming programs with some crafting and usually the video is posted for a time to ensure the patrons' ability to watch even if they couldn't join in on the appointed Zoom time. Great selection, friendly staff, fantastic services. Best local library I've seen yet.
