En Fuego Cantina & Grill delivered an outstanding experience from the moment we sat down. The endless chips and salsa were warm, crisp, and genuinely flavorful — the kind of starter that keeps disappearing from the table because everyone keeps reaching for more. The Cardiff Crack tacos were the highlight of the meal. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, and the tortillas held up without getting soggy. The burrito was generously filled and balanced, not overloaded with rice, and the enchiladas came out hot, cheesy, and full of rich flavor. As soon as you walk in, it feels like an upscale escape—almost like being on vacation. A truly authentic Mexican restaurant with a beautiful, immersive setting that just works naturally. The food was solid, the pricing is surprisingly reasonable for the experience, and the service was casual, friendly, and genuinely nice. Easily deserves five stars.

Absolutely amazing. Best Mexican food we have tried in Del Mar!! We had the Carne Asada Fajitas (enough for 2 people) and it was incredible. Also had excellent and attentive service. The ambiance inside is very nice! It’s really big and the top was covered for perfect temperature.

Very nice place with two distinct levels. I would recommend the lower level to get a better view of the restaurant. I imagine with its popularity it might be loud inside but it was perfectly quiet on a Sunday evening. The food servings were massive plates. The Carne asada was not really carne asada but instead a thick slab of meat. It was cooked like medium rare but it was good. The carnitas were not overly seasoned nor greasy but that said they were slightly without seasoning. It was still good though. It seems like a good place to revisit.

I had high expectations for this place but the experience was very disappointing. The food lacked flavor and proper seasoning overall. The fajitas were loaded with onions and bell peppers — more quantity than quality — and the meat itself had very little taste. I could only eat a small portion of my plate and left the rest. Service was slow, our server never checked in to see if the food was good or if we needed anything, and even the drinks were served different than from the menu, our server messed up on the check and she was trying to charge us different things just to make up for what we ate. The place has good ambience and reviews but they really need to do a better job in the kitchen and bring more flavor to their food. Not worth the time or money, and I wouldn’t come back again.
