Ellenville Public Library

I love going to the library with my kid for the free activities, but this library really leaves a lot to be desired. I walked in an asked about the movie scheduled to play. The front desk didn't make me feel welcome and guided me to the room the movie was. There were 3 people waiting for the movie to start. After we sat there for 15 minutes, the staff member still couldn't get the movie to start. If you need to print something, the price is decent. 35 cents per page of color

Disappointed.. Some staff are very kind and helpful, others not so much. I did not have my physical library card on me, but did have photo ID and my virtual library card connected to Libby. I was told that I couldn’t take out a book because I need the physical card. However..a few weeks ago I was able to use my virtual card in order to look up my account. This front desk person wasn’t helpful or willing enough as that person was. I don’t understand why some staff allow this and others do not. Moreover, all other libraries in the surrounding area have no issue looking you up if you have forgotten your card. Very disappointing service.

I’ve lived in Ellenville since 2016. My children and I are library lovers, so when we moved, my then teenage daughter visited. She was ignored, then treated rudely. Since then we’ve visited a handful of times, merely looking for information. Each time we are treated rudely and condescendingly. This morning was the last straw. You are supposed to be a community hub, welcoming everyone who comes in. Shame on all of you. I will continue to use Mamakating Library, always welcoming, a wealth of information, cheerful and warm. Never going in to Ellenville library again. I feel sorry for people who don’t have a choice.

A wonderful place for reference texts or a good book, a nice quiet corner, or a quick session on the computer. Friendly and helpful staff, and a great sale bin for old books or sometimes movies! Ever since covid-19 I believe you need to schedule an appointment though. However, due to lifts in regulation restrictions, this may have changed.

Nice library, especially for children. Kids can sign up for the summer reading program and get a prize for each book you read and rate. Also entry into end of summer raffle.
