Elizabethtown Public Library

Overall a nice library to find books to read,and DVD's to rent. Two things led me to this rating. First, if you are trying to get a passport from here, you will have to leave a message and wait until they call back (my case 3 days). I find it difficult to believe that the population of Etown is overrunning this library for passports. Seriously, a 3 day wait for a return call for just scheduling is ridiculous. Secondly, and this really hit home to me. I drive to the PUBLIC library today to find out it is closed. Why I asked? Because even though this is a state and federally funded institution that is payed for by ( your/my)taxes, they decide to close it for a personal event. That means no library use for local paying citizens. Proceeds benefit the Etown public library (percentage unknown),

This library removed all soft chairs in an attempt to discourage homeless people from the library. Theyre also far too busy worrying about predatory late fees despite making approx 2.25 MILLION dollars in grants from the tax payer.

I like that the children’s section is upstairs and they have their own space. I appreciate the fingerprint service offered there. It’s a nice comfortable library that’s very accessible. Great resource!!

This is a nice, cozy library that has a bookstore and coffee shop. You are allowed to drink your coffee while at the library, which is a nice perk. (Ha!) I've read some reviews that the staff is unfriendly. The library no longer has that weird, unfriendly person, and the staff is much, much nicer now. However, I thought all libraries were quiet. This one is SUPER LOUD. There is a significant amount of homeless people who hang out all day long. And before anyone thinks I care that they are homeless, it's their rudeness that I care about, including a few who are obviously getting sleep (and snoring), watching TikTok on FULL VOLUME in the circular room (that carries sound throughout the entire library due to its high ceilings), and having extremely loud and obnoxious conversations. The Elizabethtown Library offers not only books and videos, but multiple services (fingerprinting, passports, printing, computers, etc...), group activities (fiber artists, homeschooling, card making, etc...), as well as a coffee shop with in-house roasting and delicious baked items. There is parking in the back, as well as a lovely outdoor seating area. And the staff is very friendly and helpful!
