El Portón Mexican Restaurant

Gave this place a shot since it is not a chain restaurant. Ordered some asada tacos and a papa max and a shrimp cocktail as a starter. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The shrimp tasted fresh and the avocado was generous. The tacos were great, single corn tortilla (means half the carbs, I never eat double tortilla tacos) and not greasy at all. My only gripe is the wooden chairs are uncomfortable after a while.

Very good food here. Owner/chef and staff really put their heart into the preperation and diverse menu. Two incredible salsas to start in addition to a bean dip topped with Mexican white cheese. Caldo de res very good. Big chunks of Mexican squash tasty. Side of rice spot on as well as the flour tortillas. Very friendly staff. Ranchero and Banda on stereo to entertain. Owner welcomes everyone into the restaurant like his home.

The service was bad at first because we took like 15 min to get a waiter and then 30 min to get our food. Mind you not many people were inside just a 3 people in the restaurant. Food was small tacos like super tiny and not much meat on it for about 15.00 for 5 tiny tacos and small beans. The menu shows huge tacos and properly set up in a plate. When I got my tacos they were wrapped like to go paper and when I open the tacos it was messy and me thinking cuz I’m eating there it would be in a plate and nope. Waiters laughing at the situation so yup so hell no never again! Anyways I thought this restaurant was not worth the time and service was horrible. Expensive not worth the time to stop for tacos.

Went for the first time because we were nearby and searched on google and this one had good reviews, well they weren’t lying! The food was great, my husband had enchiladas suizas and I had quesabirria, we fully recommend those two :) They have a special menu on week days which is great because it includes a drink. The service was nice too. We will definitely come back 😋🍴

I had caldo, but I purchased soup and enchiladas before. Caldo is super good, fresh and delicious, just the right amount of salt. Food is always hot as it should 10/10
