El Jalapeño - at Carnes Crossroads

Food was pretty good just not what I expected. I think it just didn't taste like I wanted it to. I had the Texas Rice trio and I was thinking it would be on fried rice. It still had great flavor and it was filling.

The food is tex-mex, but good. The California burrito is more of a Faitas in a burrito.

I never leave reviews but because of the AWFUL service we received I think it’s appropriate to do so. We ordered 2 tacos and the Texas rice trio which was mid. Before we were done eating the waitress dropped a box and the check. She did not ask if we needed anything else or if we were ready for the check or anything just dropped it and walked off & She never came back! Our drinks were empty and food was done and we still sat there looking around and had to get up and go up to the hostess stand to have someone find the waitress. Whenever she finally comes over, I told her that I still wanted another drink and then she could bring the check. She walked away, rolling her eyes and came back to the table and slammed, Yes, you read that correctly, slammed the drink on the table and walked off. W

I’m only giving 1 star because I can’t give ZERO. Be careful when you dine here whether it’s inside or take out. My family and I have done both and each time they bring the receipt and you pay your bill. Your transaction with your bank will show a much higher amount. They are scammers. I went here and spent $70 which is a lot for Mexican but it was my husbands birthday. Upon checking my account they charged me $90+!!!! We will never be back. Disputed that with my bank QUICKLY of course. Same thing happened another time when we ordered take out. Go to Los Reyes, Cinco De Mayo, Anejos, anywhere but here. ZERO STARS.

Nice new establishment. Well appointed. But very slow, unattentive, and understaffed. No host/hostess. No bartender. 2 wait staff 1 bus staff. Waited for ever for a waitress. "I'll be with you in a moment" 20 minutes later we finally ordered drinks. Then she disappeared again. Had to wait another 10 minutes to get to order food. Almost didn't. But the shrimp tacos were rather good. But overloaded with cheese to hide the few small pieces of shrimp. Salsa: same as the majority, nothing special. Closing out was just as painful. Why wait staff hides out of view vs monitoring your patrons. Could be a great spot but time will tell. Sadly the one across the street isn't much better.
