El Huarique de Juancito Peruvian Food

yall…when was the last time you tried food so good it made you cry? That was me tonight. the ceviche was out of this world. El lomo saltado tasted like I was in Lima eating in someone’s grandmas kitchen. COMIDA HECHO CON CORAZÓN. Underrated gem!! They just opened 4 months ago, family owned. These folks deserve all the success coming to them. RUN DON’T WALK.

Mariscos excelentes! Causa de cangrejo con ceviche encima - una invención divina! Choritos a la chalaca muy ricas! I am Peruvian, and this restaurant has the kind of menu I like to see in a Peruvian restaurant. Some of the food needs a little finessing, and I was disappointed that the night we went there was no alfajores, but overall our experience was very good! Our server was kind and knowledgeable, and our food came out well-timed. Easy parking just around the corner. We will be back, and we will order more seafood!

Most of the items here are about $30 and are beautifully presented and can be shared. Fortunately, I visited with someone who doesn’t eat fish or seafood so I was able to taste a chicken dish. (It was over cooked and accompanied ketchup PACKETS as opposed to a bottle.) The server was kind but I would not return. I was a little irked to see I was charged for water in a bottle and assessed a credit card fee. When you tip, you’re not given the receipt so I was tipping on top of my service fee? Wack.

I visited to today for the first time and had the ceviche. It was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. There was a cute kid in the back smiling and laughing. My only concern was when I received the receipt after paying there was no line for a tip. I was confused so I tipped with cash. Maybe this business has priced tips into their menu? Not sure, so I might have spent 7 dollars I didn't need to spend, but that's partly my fault, I guess.

Two things that I consider a Peruvian restaurant to be good is their Cerviche and Lomo Saltado. This review is only for the context of ordering their Lomo Saltado . This is one of the worst Lomo Saltado that I’ve ever eaten. Paid $33.15 and does not justify the price. I try to support small businesses as much as I can but this place is a rip off. The best Lomo Saltado I have ever eaten that is worth that price is Mario’s in Los Angeles. This place here in Emeryville are very sheisty and stingy with the portion of meat. There are more onions that outnumbered the ratio that make it very unbalanced. They used chuck and over cooked the meat resulting it being very chewy and rubbery. I can also speculate that they reheat left over beef. With that price, I would expect ribeye. The marinade
