El Compaye...The Green Gem Restaurant

Amazing food! Everything is made from scratch. The empanadas are the best I’ve had on Long Island. They were perfectly crunchy on the outside, and the chicken and potato filling was incredibly flavorful. They also have a delicious steak empanada that’s definitely worth trying. The tacos were fantastic as well, with homemade taco shells that really set them apart. We finished with the coconut flan, which was also made from scratch and absolutely delicious. The owner, Elmer, is incredibly friendly and hospitable, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place!

So glad I found this hidden treasure. Their food is super fresh, homemade and DELISH! So far I ordered the beef empanadas which is amazing, crunchy and stuffed with meat (see photos), I also had their chicken wings….Soooooo tender! I couldn’t decided which sauce ( honey or boom) do they were sweet enough to provide both sauces ( see photos). Still can’t decide which I prefer since they were both equally YUMMY! My take is: Honey has more of a terriyaki vibe while the Boom sauce was more chipotle!. The nachos were nice and light but the star of that show is the salsa! Salsa by Sarah…phenomenal homemade salsa … thanks Sarah! It was nice and thick, very flavorful but not spicy…definitely order this! Everything is home made and the new owner is the sweetest person ever. He saw that my dad loved the garlic shrimp pupusa and insisted he try the spinach and peper jack cheese. He brought us out a free one just to try! The empanadas were also beautiful, deep fried with homemade dough and long marinated meats. SO INSANELY GOOD!!

El Compaye is a true hidden gem. Elmer welcomes you with warmth, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is beautifully cared for. The tacos are outstanding, but the real star is the coconut flan — simply the best. And the best part: they’re pet-friendly!”

Saw this on a Facebook post so me and my bf gave it a shot! We are soooo happy we did. The food was amazing, the service was even better! The owner and his daughter have such friendly and great energy and made us feel right at home! Hard workers!!! Can’t wait to come back
