El Canelo Mexican Restaurant

The food is delicious. Portion sizes are right on. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is great. Service was quick and courteous and they got our order perfectly correct on the first try. The chips are a bit on the crunchy side, and the salsa is decent but could be chunkier. It was not overly loud inside. This is not a sports bar, so don't expect to see TVs in every corner with some sort of game or match on. Parking is better than you would expect for North Kansas City with a small parking lot right next to the restaurant as well as the angled parking on the street that NKC is famous for. No dedicated motorcycle parking that I saw. Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Kansas City. Best margaritas and fajitas in town. My partner and I come here at least once a week and the atmosphere + service have been nothing but great every time. Can’t recommend enough.

Stopped in for lunch, was amazed by the food and definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to try a new spot to eat. The chips and salsa were amazing and the carne asada was so good I swear they had just taken the meat out of the marinade. So savory! Got super quick service too.

We visited on a Sunday evening and sampled the street tacos - carnitas and steak. They were okay - the meat was a little tough and not very warm. We did enjoy the sides, especially the rice and the salsa. Service was fast and good. We’d give them another try but we’re not in a rush to come back.

This place is AMAZING! My family and I visit at least once a week. They already know our order when we walk in. Chips are nice and crunchy and the salsa is in point. The steak is flavorful and mouthwatering. Service is friendly and fast. Also the price is reasonable compared to other places. We love El Canelo!!
