Down Home Creamery - Vinton

New to town and trying lots of new places, and so far this is my favorite. I had the peanut butter crumble on a waffle cone, but it was a tough choice - so many flavors I want to try. The ice cream was amazing - sweet and creamy with amazing flavor, and the waffle cone was fresh. Friendly staff as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Myself, my wife and our daughter have been coming to this place since they first opened and we had always loved that they offer locally made, homestead creamery ice cream. We have been so disappointed to see that they are now using a different ice cream maker by the name of Ashby's. They still offer homestead creamery ice cream but almost 3/4 of the flavors are now Ashby's. People come to this place because of the local feel and its even in the name of the place. Now it just feels much different and alot less "local" than it did. Its just like any other ice cream parlor now with generic flavors and using an cream brand that no one has heard of. Took the Grandkids to get a "flight" of four icream cups !! I had a scoop each of my favorite !! Chocolate and Vanilla !! In a Waffle cone !! The staff was great and we really really really enjoyed our visit !! Will definitely come back again !!

This place is so needed in Vinton! It's always clean, convenient, and open later hours than most places - so when you're ready for ice cream, they're there! The ice cream is tasty and they do a good job balancing a core group of flavors with seasonal offerings too. They also have Homestead Creamery milk to take home! 10/10 recommend!!

Friendly staff, clean tables and floors, great selection of ice cream that tastes great.. I drive 20 minutes each way to get here.. its worth the trip.
