Dogwood Restaurant

February, 2026 A friend and I met for lunch at the long time established Dogwood Restaurant in Vinton. Parking is available on the street or in a top of the hill lot. There is a delightful looking dining patio on the side, but we'll come back in warmer weather to dine outside. Sign at door said seat yourself, and there were several tables and booths available. Waitstaff appeared soon and took our order, but the menu on a Saturday afternoon is not as extensive as a weekday lunch. We were also too late for breakfast. We both chose the ham and turkey club sandwich, which comes with handmade chips, which I really wanted to try, , and we also ordered fries, but the dish came without the chips, even though we asked for both. Food very tasty. Wait staff were friendly and quick. We have been here several times. Breakfast os great also. We love the food and friendly atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I were really excited to try this place for the first time, but within just a couple of bites, I found a hair in my mac and cheese. It completely killed my appetite. I didn’t say anything in the moment because I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to leave, but I couldn’t finish the food after that. On top of that, the restaurant itself didn’t feel very clean or organized. There was some kind of black buildup around the vents and on parts of the walls, and you can see straight into the kitchen where none of the cooks were wearing hair nets. It didn’t give the impression that cleanliness was a priority, so the hair in my food wasn’t surprising. This was our first visit, and unfortunately, it’ll be our last.

What a fun place to hang out and eat good home-cooked food! The breakfast potatoes are delicious and seasoned just right, the pickled beets are not too sweet but have a wonderful spicy taste and everyone at my table loved their food!! Breakfast is boss and lunch is yummy! Enjoy 😉

We try to eat at Dogwood anytime we're in Vinton. We love their menu as you can find homestyle meals along with great burgers or sandwiches. We dropped by last night after a soccer practice, and our meals were delicious! The service was great! We also loved the additional space they have built out next door since the last time we visited. They even have outdoor dining now! We'll be back soon! (I had the grilled chicken with grilled onions and mushrooms, mac & cheese, and greens with cornbread - pictured.)
