Doodles Donuts and Cafe

We stopped by Doodles Donuts and Café in Hayes because the new donut shop that a local referred us to had sold out of donuts.They had tons of variety and everything looked picture-perfect. The two younger employees (a guy and a girl) at the counter were super friendly and helpful, which was a nice start. Unfortunately, that’s where the good part ended. The woman who seemed to be the owner or manager wasn’t very welcoming, which threw off the vibe a bit. On top of that, there was a table of smokers right down from the entrance who looked less than thrilled to see customers show up - definitely not the inviting experience you’d expect from a small country donut shop. After reading reviews and seeing pictures. I decided to take a little drive and check out this donut shop. I was so disgusted that I almost decided to ask for my money back and return the boxed donuts but I don’t want to be “that” person. I kept feeling my shoes sticking to the floor and expecting it to be one area, I looked around and the entire floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. I sat down and the table was dirty and looked up and saw it looked like someone threw a drink at the tv and never cleaned it. I immediately regretted my purchase and didn’t even want to eat the donuts I purchased because of how dirty the place was in the customer area, I can only imagine the kitchen area is worse. These donuts have made me famous with my coworkers but also decimated my self-esteem: After bringing these donuts to work a few times this year I began noticing how excited my coworkers were to see me when I’d show up in their offices. It turns out they’ve just been excited at the thought that I might be bringing them donuts.* The real review: This is a cozy little place that opens up early enough for me to snag a few dozen donuts before heading into work a couple times a month. The staff there is always friendly and kind, even at 6 am. The prices are reasonable for the quality and it hits the spot when you’re craving the indulgence of real pastry that’s truly freshly baked over a pre packaged donut chain experience. *Disclaimer: while no ones self-esteem was actually damaged by Doodles

I feel like there were more choices and were a lot fresher even in the beginning of this year. Ive been back twice. Not impressed. Especially not for how expensive the donuts are. Second time I went they were not cooked all the way, and didnt really have many options. Weren't fresh. Third time went in the morning. Still weren't fresh. Same old options too. Disappointing. Probably not going to spend my money here again. But what else is new in gloucester. No one takes their business seriously here, I swear!

Have been to Doodles several times. There has been an issue every time. This time I ordered coffee and after I paid I was told they didn't have paper coffee cups. Wgat! Really!!! I saw the young man make a fresh pot. It was served in a plastic cup which was ok, I had a small Yetti. I immediately poured it into my cup. The coffee was not hot. You need to do better! If you don't have coffee cups ect., don't accept orders for that item!
