The mochiko chicken and katsu curry were delicious, the portions were huge and each order could have fed two of us! For that I would say it’s good value for the price, but harder for small parties to try more on the menu without ending up with a lot of leftovers. We noticed most people didn’t finish and took their leftovers home. Butter mochi was also great, we also got the spam musubi but thought it was just okay especially for the ~$8 price. Would def go for the other items on the menu over it. Came in the afternoon around 3pm on a Sadat to avoid the lunch rush, was surprised to see all the tables taken. Short line to order and by the time we got our food, a table had opened up. Consistent stream of people coming in so I imagine they must be busy and longer waits during meal times. Stre
Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: I'd come back! The extended review... Food: Meatloaf Loco Moco - 5/5 - So ono! It's a good version of the traditional. Who could say no to meat, rice, egg, and gravy!? Service: 4/5 - Friendly service. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - An interesting mixed use place of kitchen and grocery. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Standard fare on pricing.
This place takes me back to my trip to Hawaii. The food portion was huge. I think anything you order will be great. The mini store had items you can't get anywhere but Hawaii. I love the vibe. It's a small place. We got there a little before opening and we had no problem getting a table. You order from the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. Parking can be a challenge since it shares spots with the other businesses near by. If you are looking for the island vibe this is the place.
My absolute favorite Hawaiian spot in the entire Bay Area and probably all of California. This place never disappoints. Their Mochiko Chicken and Loco Moco are hands-down the best I’ve ever had, seriously addictive. I catch myself dreaming about them. Even my Hawaiian friends who are vegan will make an exception and order the chicken because it’s that good! I also love the market-style setup. It’s stocked with tons of Hawaiian snacks and favorites that are hard to find anywhere else, making the whole experience feel extra authentic and homey. If you’re craving legit Hawaiian comfort food, this is the spot. Highly recommend! 🌺🍛🍗
Glad to have found Morning Wood kitchen again! Yes, there are Hawaiian based food products, the wasubi selection amazing, oh and the garlic chicken awesome!
