We were fortunate enough to stay at the Deming House for probably the best week of the leaf season in South-Western Vermont. The leaves and the colours were fabulous- the best we saw anywhere. The Deming house is run by Karron and Rick, a very hospitable couple with lots of good local information and wonderful cooking at breakfast - thankyou Karron! we stayed in'Rebecca' which was beautifully decorated and really huge. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well heated (important at that time of year)! We really loved our 3 night stay there and were very sad to leave for our final trip back to New York and home to Australia. Arlington itself is a very small town with a surprising number of tourist sites such as the Norman Rockwell gallery at the Sugar House which is well worth seei
The Deming House is very nice. You can rent the whole home and it's just lovely! The kitchen is well equipped. With every bedroom having its own bathroom, it made it perfect for our group of friends, no waiting for use and we had plenty room for all of us!
Stayed here with another couple during a leaf peeping fall Columbus Day weekend. The inn is located on the east end of southern Vermont, town of Arlington, right on historic and scenic Route 7A about 10 miles from Manchester,Vt. Very quaint old federal style home with lots of character. There are only a total of (3) rooms, two on the ground floor and one on the second floor. The living room, for guest use, is large with plenty of comfortable seating, a fireplace, and a large screen tv. My room on the first floor was comfortable. The bathroom was small and had a shower stall but was still very manageable. I understand that the other rooms have full baths if this is an issue for you. There is a small parking area in the rear of the inn. There is a fire pit right out the back door. The owners,
First, I'd like to say that Karron and Rick were very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely done and the bed was comfortable. Music CD's were a nice touch. Unfortunately I needed an outlet by the bed and when I looked behind the bed for a plug, it was filthy. Looked like it hadn't been dusted in ages. Overall the room was clean, but they didn't attend to baseboards and such. In the bathroom, there were no toiletries except soap. When I asked about shampoo, it was stated that B&B's don't do that. I stay almost exclusively in B&B's and I've never seen one without shampoo. Karron was nice enough to go find a bottle for me. ||The french toast with a sprinkling of strawberries and sausage breakfast was good plus there was OJ. Most B&B's offer more choice, such as fresh fruit/ yogurt/cereal
Definitely not your spot if you're looking for the amenities of a full hotel (i.e. no shampoo or conditioner provided and a very small tv), but if you want two very sweet people to take care of you at an old fashioned house in the Vermont mountains, then you found your spot! Karen and Rick will make sure to take care of you and you're close to Manchester (shopping) and other activities such as hiking in all directions.
