Darien Library

One of my favorite libraries in Fairfield County. Been coming here for years. The librarians are kind and open minded. The area around is gorgeous. I enjoyed the event that was in the library’s auditorium with Tidy Dad, a NYC Teacher who talks about organization, de-cluttering etc. GO NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bunch of overpaid, very Old Fashioned and Out of Touch librarian 'Ditzes' who underserve older patrons. I had major trouble when their older copier malfunctioned, which left me very stuck several times in the past. Where was staff? They were checking their cell phones and congregating amongst each other. God forbid I asked the nuts for Excel or PowerPoint help. Same result. When I complained only once, I was threatened with the cancelation of my account privileges. I felt targeted and will NEVER go back. They're a beautiful, very large library. They could do better to help and assist the older public.

As a taxpayer and community member, I am concerned that the library’s staffing does not reflect the diversity of the community it serves. A publicly funded institution has a responsibility to ensure equitable access, representation, and perspectives—especially in roles that shape programming, collections, and community engagement. While the library may highlight inclusion initiatives, the lack of staff diversity raises questions about whether these efforts translate into meaningful structural inclusion or remain largely symbolic. Representation matters not only for fairness in hiring, but because it directly impacts how services are designed, which voices are prioritized, and how welcoming the space feels to all members of the public.

Daniel did our taxes for 2024 and everything went smoothly…or so we thought! I worked in NY for a bit in 2024 and it reflected on my taxes. Daniel, decided it was ok to skip over this and not submit or complete our NY state taxes. Fast forward to today, we owe so much money because of his mistake! This incompetence is highly unprofessional. You cannot mess with people’s lives like this! We understand that this is a free service but it shouldn’t come at this cost!

They now have a 3D printer and you can create cool stuff like phone stands or fidget spinners. Over all great place and I go there two to four times a week.
