Lovely Romanian restaurant with live music to accompany your meal, bit out of the way but worth a visit. The dishes are large for sharing and well cooked, meat still tender. A lot of carbs with the dishes, not too big of a fan of the saisages. No comment on the throne side table😅
Zacusca (eggplant spread), sarmale (stuffed cabbage), and mititei (garlicky grilled skinless sausage) were sooo good. Super authentic Romanian food. The lamb pastrama was OK as well, I would say for those unfamiliar with Romanian cuisine to stick to the traditional dishes.
Feels just like home 🇷🇴 I had an amazing lunch experience at Danubius Restaurant—it truly felt like being back in Romania. The food is incredibly fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Every bite reminded me of home-cooked meals from back in the day. The staff was extremely welcoming and kind, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. It’s rare to find a place in NYC that captures the warmth and hospitality of Romania so perfectly. I found out the owners are from Galați, and you can truly taste the love and tradition in every dish. Definitely coming back for dinner—if lunch was this good, I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommend!
Food tastes good, but it is not like special in any way. Grilled meat is tender. The tripe soup is pretty interesting because it is a little bit sour from the sour cream I think. It is also very cheap for such a decent size portion. Grilled cheese is like cheese stick. It was a very heavy lunch that kept me full for the rest of the day.
Took my dad here on Father’s Day. The food was ok, definitely not worth a return trip for me and the service was not good. Our waiter was grumpy and not friendly at all and just seemed miserable to be there. He was borderline rude. They didn’t have any Romanian beers, or wine by the glass. The meatball soup I had was just ok, I’ve had better. The grilled chicken was overly peppery and not salty enough and the accompanying fries were not particularly good either. My daughter had the polenta dish which was pretty delicious but it’s hard to mess up polenta. My dad tried the Ciolan cu fasole (pork ham bone with beans) and it was good. The service and overall atmosphere kinda ruined this dining experience for us and I would not return. I asked for to go boxes because I don’t like to be wastefu
