Cunningham's Journal On The Lake

Very nice restaurant especially for those of us coming across the country . We stayed at the a Fairfield and walked there (across the parking lot). It’s pretty new. Very nice inside. Tons of Tabs if you like sports. We sat at the bar and ate plus drinks. Haley our server was excellent. The food was very good. Nice to have something other than road food ! I had the firecracker salmon salad which was excellent and not too hot. My husband had the grilled chicken salad and really liked it. We had the hummus for an appetizer and it was great They have a nice selection of beer as well. We arrived at 5 pm on a Tuesday and it was not crowded .

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch, around 2:30ish. Stayed at a local hotel and this place had great reviews and it was walking distance. He had the filet skewers and they were amazing! Plenty of food, too. I had the Jameson Steak Skewers and they were pretty good. Perfectly cooked, I did think that they could have benefited from a little seasoning while being prepared but they were good and tender. I don't know how they season the rice that the skewers came with, but it was great! Again, plenty of food. We had to get the rest of our meals in a to go box. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was attentive enough, I think she should have tried a little harder to smile tho, to complete our experience ( sorry...) . We were wrapping up our dinner and I guess there was a shift chan

Our server was excellent. We got the journal bites and a chicken mac n cheese pizza. Both were delicious! The restaurant is beautiful. I would definitely recommend!

My husband and I stopped here twice within two weeks—about a week apart—while passing through, and we were amazed both times. Our bartender (Nistha) remembered everything about us: our story, our drinks, our food preferences—every little detail. The second visit she went even further, walking us through her entire Nebraska whiskey collection and matching us with a few pours based on exactly what we like. Every recommendation was spot-on, and she made the experience. She honestly made both of the trips to Kearney unforgettable. Incredible service, incredible person—wow. We can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be back whenever we’re in the area. Make sure you ask for Nistha!!

Came here with our family as a group of 8. We came in the evening and there was a quick wait of 10 minutes. Service was great and food was served quickly. Food was fantastic! We shared steak bites and the dipping sauce complimented the bites well. We devoured all our dishes. The bacon burger is thick, juicy, and the bun was fresh. The fries were seasoned to perfection. We loved the shrimp skewers so much that we want to try and replicate this dish at home. Great for families, hang out to watch the game, and the outdoor seating can be quite romantic.
