Great spot to refuel with coffee. The samples are generous and self serve. The owner is really friendly and willing to explain his roasting process. The roasting is happening on the spot on site. And can I just say, where would you ever be able to get a cup of black coffee for $2 except through time travel back a few decades?! Really worth visiting! Artisan coffee roasting really doesn’t get fresher than this!

Stopped in after an amazing recommendation from another local roaster and I was absolutely blown away. The variety and smells inside were enough to bring me back but the knowledge retained and shared by Sean was so warming it would have freshened up any cup I came in with. We talked briefly about what I was looking for and he pin pointed the perfect option for me from his current quiver of options. I will be a very frequent returning client and I HIGHLY recommend anyone who loves their morning cup to be perfect and filled with love to stop in to buy a bag from them.

Update, August 2024: Cunningham has become my regular spot for picking up the coffee that I brew at home. Since they mostly appear to sell to local shops, I have yet to find regular hours posted for dropping in to make a purchase. We've learned to keep an eye out for an A-frame sign on the sidewalk saying that they're roasting. Talking to the person who personally buys and roasts all the beans, I've come to rely on his suggestions and recommendations. They also have canned cold brew, which I've never tried, but it sounds like a great to-go item if you're passing by while they're open. - - - - - - - - - - - There's a new place to get coffee in SE. Sean is very knowledgeable about coffee and roasting. I have been all over Portland and beyond and have had difficulty finding coffee with the flavor profile that I enjoy most. Having roasted beans for around 15 years, I'm aware that flavors often change year to year from the same provider. Sean changes his roasting programs as required by various batches. It's not one roast fits all. He accurately can suggest alternate selections if needed and seems to be dedicated to making the best coffee possible vs volume production using set roast profiles. I'm grateful for his expertise and incomparable customer service. Thank you!!!!

We had such a great experience today at a private tasting and roasting with Sean!!! We got to try 6 different brews and chose our favorite to roast and take home with us. I loved the private 1 hour experience and being able to ask any and every question I had, even when we passed the 1 hour limit. I have no doubt Sean would be just as great at a public tasting and would highly recommend stopping in for a chat! The environmentally friendly aspect of Cunningham coffee is incredible, admirable, and a nice bonus to some great tasting coffee. 10/10!
