Cucina Massi

We were in Frederick to see the Carroll Creek Lighted Sailboats and stumbled upon Massi through Google—what a perfect find. The moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The restaurant itself feels like an old house converted into a cozy dining space, giving it a relaxed, family-dinner vibe that’s hard to find these days. The food? Incredible. They had fried calamari on the menu, but we asked if they could grill it instead—and they happily did. It came out perfectly tender and delicious. The linguini with white clam sauce tasted exactly like something an Italian grandma would make—simple, comforting, and deeply authentic. And the Veal Massi with fresh mozzarella? This was one of the few Italian restaurant options in Frederick, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed with the pasta selections or the overall dishes. While the prices weren’t particularly high, the food was just okay and didn’t stand out. It’s not a place I would go back to. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt family-oriented. However, it’s probably not the ideal spot for a date or a more intimate dining experience.

My husband and I have always loved the restaurant, so when we were planning our courthouse wedding + small celebration, we knew it had to be at Cucina Massi! Lianne was great to work with, Trish who worked upstairs during the party, was phenomenal. We had 50 guests for an open bar and dinner. The space was tight--it does sit 50 people although not super comfortably--but it was a perfect night. Everyone loved the food and the drinks were great! Our face hurt from smiling and laughing so much by the end of the night. Two constructive pieces of feedback: They offered to set up the place settings, which included place cards, before everyone got there. Unfortunately, the place cards were almost all incorrectly placed, which resulted in some family drama that I had tried hard to avoid with the

cute ambiance! i sat on the enclosed patio in the back. the bartender was very friendly! for food, i had a caesar salad and the penne black & bleu. the caster salad was good - loved the creamy dressing. i had high hopes for the penne black & bleu but it was pretty flavorless, extremely small piece of chicken. for wine, i had their rubio red blend - not a good taste and pretty light. tried a cab after that was better. overall, wine and food was subpar.

I’ve been recently looking for some really great pizza to satisfy my love for Italian food and I have now stumbled across the best pizza I’ve ever had. I had the margherita pizza and was blown away by how simple but sweet the sauce was with the freshness of the tomatoes, and also the fresh mozzarella combined with the perfect crust. Absolutely amazing pizza. It was also my first time trying Tiramisu and I’m glad I had it here because it was incredible as well. The service was also top notch and it felt welcoming and warm the second we stepped into the restaurant thanks to all the great employees. 10/10 highly recommended and will definitely be coming back to relive this great experience.
