CROCCANTE ARTISAN PIZZA

I came to town to visit the annual art exhibition and chose this pizzeria based on its high rating. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. We ordered shrimp pasta and chicken tenders. The pasta was decent, but the chicken tenders were not. They were extremely overcooked, almost burnt, and the fries were also overdone — dry and hard, with no softness even inside. It was also surprising that ranch sauce is not included with this dish and has to be ordered and paid for separately, which is unusual compared to most places. Our bill was a little over $60. While the amount itself isn’t large, it was one of those situations where the money felt wasted due to the quality of the food. Pizza was extremely good. Chicago Tavern Style had a light and very thin crust that's both crispy and soft. Sausage was crumbly and was the perfect texture and flavor. Pepperoni were perfectly thick and cupped. Sauce was very good. 5 out of 5! Will try the Detroit style the next time I'm around.

Croccante is locally and independently owned and is a Napa gem. The menu is compact and offers something for everyone, from picky kids to choosy parents, and everyone in between. Portions are generous and offers something decent value in today’s made world of restaurant pricing. The wine list is short and sweet featuring a great by the glass offering and house cocktails are some of the best value in downtown Napa. Get in there!

Nice setup with both indoor and outdoor seating. I appreciated the smaller, focused menu: pizza, salad, wings, and garlic knots. We ordered two Detroit-style pizzas. The thick crust was good, but they could’ve been a bit more generous with the toppings. Tried the $2 hot honey on the side, not too spicy, more on the mild side. Overall, an okay spot.

I have never heard of Croccante until we drove by on a Saturday afternoon and saw a patio full of happy people and decided to stop. We were not disappointed! We ordered the potato and pancetta pizza and it was amazing. The flavors were spot on and the crispy cheesy crusty crust was excellent! We shall return!
