Crawford County Library System

Went for our first visit to the Crawford County library in Van Buren this morning and will not be back. Took my daughter and granddaughter for Baby Story Time at 10:30am and to also get a library card as we just moved to the area. We sat in the childrens area for storytime for over 20 minutes and not one member of the library staff approached us or conducted storytime. I guess they thought since we were the only ones there it was unnecessary to have it. I stood at the counter for several minutes while the lady at the front desk carried on a personal conversation on the phone. When she finally chose to address me she was very rude and short. Very disappointed in the city’s service. Won’t be back.

I really like this library, unfortunately some of the staff make it hard for me to be in there very long. There are to many staff hanging out at the counter gossiping & talking way to loud. In fact, this is the loudest library I've ever been to. It seems they have nothing better to do. Some are, to me, a bit Judgemental. I have noticed the comparison of how different people are talked to or as in my case, looking down on or ignored. Which, to me, is very sad. I've never had feelings like this at any of the other libraries I've been to. I love libraries, so I visit often, just not this library. Now, not all staff are like this, some are nice & friendly.

I couldn't believe how many things I could get done at the library they have nothing to do with books. The staff is amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. You should absolutely go there!

One of the nicest libraries I've ever been to. There's a huge selection of books, plenty of seating and places to charge your phone. It's the perfect place to kill time when a client cancels last minute

Nice library. Pleasant and helpful staff. That said, organization of reading material needs improvement. Books a bit disordered, some authors out of alphebetical order. Hire me and I'll straighten out problem areas 😊
