Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Cracker Barrel in Belleville absolutely deserves five stars — especially for their chicken. Every time I go, it feels like real comfort food done the right way. The fried chicken is hands-down some of the best around. Crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and juicy on the inside. It’s not greasy, not dry — just that classic Southern-style crunch that cracks when you bite into it. You can tell it’s made fresh and cooked with care. The Sunday Homestyle Chicken is unreal. That golden brown crust with tender white meat inside is exactly what comfort food should taste like. Pair it with mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, or their biscuits (which are always warm and buttery), and it’s honestly hard to beat. The chicken fried chicken and southern fried chicken were very good and we got a lot of it, but the sides were the disappointment. Very small portions especially compared to the amount of chicken on the plates, and were quite bland tasting... watered down even. Otherwise we were happy. Service was friendly and attentive, tables were clean, place was welcoming, and who doesn't love perusing the country store for hours, right?!? I also have to mention how amazing they are for having truck/RV parking.

The hostess was super friendly, and set the stage for me having more patience for what was to come. I had to change my order to carryout shortly after we sat down. Our service was nice...but not efficient. The first time she forgot to include my salad. The next time she gave me the wrong sauce for my salad. I could see she was having a rough day, so I tried to be very nice in asking for corrections. The catfish with Mac n cheese and greens were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Overall a good place if you are in the mood for comfort food. Just bring a heavy dose of patience.

Ricardo was the best waiter I’ve ever had. He was polite, patient and had an amazing approachable personality and demeanor. Daniel was also great too, I seen him helping sit down a customer that came in with a walker. As far as food I got the crispy chicken tenders, fries, and bacon Mac’ and cheese. It came out within 20 minutes, the food was hot and it was absolutely scrumptious. I give my biggest appreciation to every chef in the back that captivated my tongue today🤤. I had to edit this, the bacon and cheese tater tots were even better than everything else I wish I could’ve gave Ricardo a tip:(. 10/10 would definitely come back no doubt.

Hostess tried to sit us at a dirty table when more than half the section had clean available tables. We asked to sit at a clean table instead. The next couple brought to the section again was sat at a dirty table. At least 3 tables sat dirty as we "ate" our meal. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. Plate came out with literally 9 fries on it (see pic). Prior to the picture I cut the sandwich in half. My wife ordered breakfast, bacon crispy and eggs over medium. First thing she noticed was the bacon was barely cooked far from well done. She pointed it out to the waitress. The waitress came back with a plate so they could have the bacon back and cook it more.
