Covington Public Library

A charming, small-town library that I’m sure serves the local community well, but as a traveler looking for a productive workspace, I would suggest passing on this location. ​During my hour-long visit, the environment was quite loud. One librarian was on her personal phone using speakerphone, and the general staff conversations were loud enough that finding a quiet space was impossible. Even when speaking with guests, the volume was disruptive. ​I understand that total silence isn't always a requirement, but one usually expects a library to be quieter than a local restaurant or coffee shop. There's enforcement.I don't know who hires the staff.But this is the rudest group of women in all of indiana!!!

HOURS ARE TERRIBLE !!! They close at 7pm now. I know of other small town libraries with much better. Improve your hours if you want to be taken seriously. This place looks for excuses to be closed more than they should be. On 11/24 I had business that required me going to this library. Well they were closed. It wasn’t Thanksgiving and it wasn’t Black Friday. As I said, they really must look for reasons to be closed. Around the Holidays they tend to get lazy and shut down a lot. Even if patronage is lower around this time, they still have an obligation to be a public service and could have a skeleton crew. Oh and on Wednesday’s they close too early. I will say when I am there the staff though does a genuinely good job of trying to help their patrons.
