BEWARE: New, inexperienced inn owners should have had EVERYTHING spotless ready for their grand reopening. Please keep in mind, the Inn was sold in June, I believe, with years worth of very positive reviews for the FORMER owner which we relied on for our booking decision. When we arrived, no one was at the Inn to greet us and there was a handwritten old note on the door, looking like it had been there for years which had a code on it; no suggestion on what it was for. We think, out of courtesy, the new owners should have left a note or at least texted us about the delay. No other cars were in the parking area. We waited outside for half an hour until the owner finally arrived. Upon entry, a vase of old wilted flowers sat neglected in its old water, a sign of things to come. We were escorte
We stayed here for the first time last week and Tracy and Jim, the owners, are simply wonderful. This is exactly the B and B experience you are looking for in New England. You feel welcome and at home here and breakfast both mornings were divine :). Location is excellent - close to both Plymouth and Waterville Valley.
Wonderful experience at the Inn! Visited during the winter holidays and felt like we were surrounded by family. Tracy and Jim were great hosts. Rooms were beautiful, cozy, and clean. Stayed in a piece of history—definitely ask about it during your stay. Beautiful covered bridge down the road and walking trails next to the Inn. Would recommend staying at the Colonel Spencer Inn to everyone!
We spent 2 nights here in September. Jim and Tracy have owned this place for a few months, but are well suited for their jobs. Ask Jim about the amazing history connected to this Inn. Tracy is an excellent chef, and breakfast includes such things as home made muffins and waffles. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are filled with antiques. A unique and enjoyable place to stay!
We had a really lovely stay at this charming B&B in a beautiful old colonial house. Our room was cute, clean, and full of character—perfect for a cozy night away. The owners, Tracy and Jim, were fantastic hosts. They were welcoming, helpful, and patiently answered all my questions. The overall atmosphere was bright, kind, and inviting—like staying at a friend’s home. Breakfast was a definite highlight: home-cooked, delicious, and clearly made with care. Would absolutely recommend, and we’d love to come back!
