Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library

I am 75 yrs old and this is the worst library I've ever attended. The architecture may be nice but, overall the library is utter chaos. Word to the wise, don't use the computers. If you do, expect to not have one minute of peace and concentration. Groups that come in are allowed to behave and speak however they wish without supervision. The library employees are no better. They seem to forget that people need and desire quiet. Young children who come in do not make the situation better. Parents do not seem to have any control over their children. You might as well be in a playground! The maintenance man, with his booming voice adds to the madness. He seems to derive great pleasure in disturbing people. No effort is made to tone things down. very nice library but i agree with the review that the place would benefit from being a little quieter. i haven’t seen anyone tell louder people to be quiet even though they can be distracting sometimes. also seems like the really good books are frequently taken 🥲

This library is beautiful with some interesting and cool community resources, but the selection of books for older youth and young teens is abysmal. We moved here from the Upper Hudson library system and were really disappointed that we couldn't find any of the books or series that we like. My kids' *favorite* place is the library, and they used to love the experience of going to the library and choosing own their books. Now we search the online library system and place requests for the books we want from the other libraries to be shipped to Clifton Park. Very disappointing.

Difficult to imagine any basis for complaint, unless one is looking for a 100% standard of PERFECTION. Visually-Library is lovely and airy in design. Availability-Hours are phenomenal for a public library, 9-9 every weekday and long Saturday/Sunday hours. Service-Workers I’ve met have been 100% nice, willing to help, informative, responsive..what more could I ask? Offerings available to borrow are astonishing in the breadth and scope…I’m still amazed. A LAPTOP borrowed would allow a patron seeking a more peaceful space to find one, even on the premises. There are spaces for quiet study and a cool (often deserted) garden out back. The children’s section is fantastic. It’s enclosed and out of the way, has tons of books and toys and puzzles, and every librarian is incredibly kind and helpful.
