Clarkeston

The house itself (from the outside) is pretty cool. However, the "total renovation" was done in 1993 (over 30 years ago!) and it shows. Interiors are shabby and in need of thorough upgrading to make the $300 price of a room worthwhile. There is no sign outside as in this photo, so we had difficulty knowing exactly which of the three houses we were staying in or had to sign in to (it was the one across the street). There was NEVER anyone around. Never. I mean nobody. Our room was never cleaned or made up...we were there for 3 nights. Never saw any breakfast everyone is raving about. There was nobody in the dining room or anywhere! Nobody greeted us or asked us how our visit was going. I'm not exaggerating. Excellent example of historic Newport Rhode Island! Nice bed and breakfast. Breakfast excellent! Large room size, lots of space, jack and Jill bathroom. Loved this place. It's a must.

Positive: Terrible place, would not go back. Location works but the staff is either incompetent or completely rude. The woman at the front desk was super unhelpful when we told her the pack and play they told us they had was filled with mold. Negative: Front desk totally rude and unhelpful. No offer to get new crib after theirs was moldy. When I complained to Rick the owner he didn't offer any sort of help other than listening for 10 min. He doesn't care about customers just buying a new Porsche.

Recent stay during marathon/half marathon weekend. Wonderful stay. central location, easy to walk everywhere including Easton Beach, restaurants, shopping. Charming inn, parking provided, clean spacious room, wonderful staff. Great communication previous to stay and during stay. Snacks and breakfast was prepared provided early for those of us leaving for race and owner/manager even drove us down in the morning. Would stay here again for sure! Bring earplugs if noise sensitive since definitely not soundproof.

Charming guest house in the most amazing location, with off street parking. Our room was huge, tastefully decorated, and the bed was so comfortable. Please be aware that the free breakfast is only available for certain booking rates, we booked thru a discount site so our rate was lower but we didn't get the breakfast.
